How to retrieve fiscal year settings in Zoho CRM

Get your organization's fiscal year configuration.

Retrieving and reviewing fiscal year settings in Zoho CRM is straightforward once you know where the configuration lives — it sits inside the organisation-level Company Settings area, accessible only to administrators.

Why this matters

Many businesses operate on a fiscal calendar that does not align with the standard January–December Gregorian year. [2] Because Zoho CRM uses the fiscal year configuration to drive quarter labels in reports and analytics, a mismatch between your actual financial year and the CRM setting can cause pipeline reports and forecasts to show the wrong periods. [8] Getting this right is especially important before you build dashboards or share quota reports with leadership.

Step-by-step

Step 1. Sign in to Zoho CRM with an account that holds the Administrator profile. Only administrators are recommended to view or change organisation-specific details. [2]

Step 2. Click the Setup (gear) icon in the top-right corner of the Zoho CRM interface to open the configuration panel.

Step 3. Under the General section of Setup, locate and click Company Settings. This area contains organisation-specific details that differentiate one account from another. [2]

Step 4. Within Company Settings, look for the Fiscal Year section. Zoho CRM surfaces this as a dedicated sub-section alongside other organisation options such as Business Hours and Hierarchy Preference. [2]

Step 5. Open the Fiscal Year panel to review the current configuration. You will see which month the fiscal year is set to begin, which in turn determines how quarters are labelled throughout CRM reports and analytics. [8]

Step 6. If you need to adjust the start month — for example, moving it from January to April to reflect an April–March financial year — update the Fiscal Year begins in value and save. Note that choosing a non-January start month affects how the system labels fiscal quarters across all reports. [8]

Common pitfalls

  • Start date offset confusion. When configuring a fiscal year that begins on the first day of a given month (e.g., 1 April), some Zoho products display an off-by-one behaviour depending on whether the "Start Date" field is set to 1 or 2. Setting it to 1 can cause the displayed period to shift back by one day. [5] Always verify the resulting date range shown in the UI after saving.

  • Analytics quarters not updating immediately. If you change the fiscal year start month, existing saved reports in CRM Analytics may still reference the old quarter definitions until they are refreshed or rebuilt. [8] Re-open and re-run key reports after any fiscal year change.

  • Standard vs. custom fiscal year types. Some Zoho products (such as Zoho FSM) offer both a Standard 12-calendar-month structure and a Custom 52-week structure. [6] Zoho CRM's Company Settings fiscal year configuration follows the standard calendar-month model, so week-based fiscal years are not natively supported here.

  • Permission requirement. Users without the Administrator profile cannot modify — and in some configurations cannot even view — the fiscal year settings. If the Fiscal Year section appears greyed out or missing, check the user's profile permissions. [2]

What to check

  • Confirm the start month is correct by reviewing the Fiscal Year panel in Setup > Company Settings and verifying the displayed quarter ranges match your organisation's actual financial calendar. [2]
  • Spot-check a CRM report that uses a date-based quarter filter to ensure Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4 now align with your expected fiscal periods. [8]
  • Validate with a non-admin user that the fiscal year change is reflected in their report views, confirming the setting has propagated across the organisation. [2]
