How to retrieve customize setup settings in Zoho CRM

Access setup customization configuration for your CRM.

To retrieve customize setup settings in Zoho CRM, you access the Setup page via the Setup icon in the top right of your screen, then navigate to the specific configuration area you need—such as General settings for account details or specialized sections for modules, fields, and page layouts. This is where all your CRM customization options live.

Why this matters

Administrators and power users need to access setup settings to configure how Zoho CRM behaves for their team. Whether you're adjusting general account information, personalizing the interface theme, or modifying modules and fields, knowing how to reach these settings quickly saves time and prevents configuration mistakes. Setup access is also restricted by user role, so understanding the path helps you troubleshoot permission issues.

Step-by-step

Step 1. Open the Setup page.

Click the Setup icon (gear symbol) in the top right corner of your Zoho CRM screen. This takes you to the main Setup page where all customization and configuration options are organized.[2]

Step 2. Navigate to General settings.

From the Setup page, select Setup > General to access your account's foundational settings. Here you can fill in personal details and company information.[2]

Step 3. Explore theme and appearance options.

To personalize how your CRM looks, click your profile icon in the top right of the screen. From there you can select a theme and choose between night mode or day mode for your interface.[2] You can also enable accessibility controls to further adjust the CRM to your needs.[2]

Step 4. Access module and layout customization.

From the Setup page, you can navigate to sections for customizing modules and page layouts. These areas let you structure your CRM data and control how information appears on record detail pages.[3] You can also use Canvas to customize the record detail page itself.[2]

Step 5. Manage field-level settings.

Within Setup, locate the fields section to manage and customize different fields across your CRM account. This includes field-level customization options for individual field behavior and properties.[4]

Step 6. Configure company details (admin only).

If you need to edit company information, note that this privilege is restricted to the super admin or administrator role.[7] If you're an administrator and cannot modify these details, contact your super admin or reach out to Zoho support with screenshots of the issue.[7]

Step 7. Set up custom domain mapping (if applicable).

For Enterprise accounts, you can configure custom domain mapping to rebrand your CRM portal. Remember that this feature must be configured separately for each environment (Production, Sandbox, or Client Portal) and supports only one portal at a time.[8]

Common pitfalls

Company details editing is restricted to administrators and super admins. If you're not in one of these roles, you won't see edit options—check with your account administrator instead.[7]

Custom domain mapping does not apply automatically across all environments. If a user sees the default portal address instead of your custom domain, verify they're logging into the correct environment (Production vs. Sandbox) and that domain setup has been completed for that specific instance.[8]

If you encounter a "Portal is yet to be configured" error when setting up custom domain mapping, this feature is only available for standalone Zoho CRM accounts in the Enterprise plan.[8]

What to check

  • Confirm you have admin or super admin privileges if you need to modify company details or advanced settings.
  • Verify that any custom domain or environment-specific configuration matches the environment the user is accessing.
  • Test theme and accessibility settings in your profile to ensure your preferred display mode is active.
