How to retrieve customize home settings in Zoho CRM

Access home page customization configuration for your CRM.

Retrieving and restoring customised home settings in Zoho CRM is straightforward once you know where the relevant controls live — particularly after a mobile app update resets your preferences, or when you're navigating the refreshed Setup Home screen introduced in CRM for Everyone.

Why this matters

Mobile app updates on iOS can silently reset personalised settings — things like week-start day, Caller ID preferences, and module-specific options — back to their defaults.[3] Meanwhile, the desktop Setup screen has received a structural overhaul under CRM for Everyone, reorganising how settings are surfaced and remembered.[4] Knowing how to locate and re-apply your customisations saves time and prevents configuration drift across your team.

Step-by-step

Step 1. Open the Setup screen in Zoho CRM (desktop). In the updated CRM for Everyone interface, the Setup Home page organises all configuration items by category, so every tool is consolidated into a single, scannable view rather than buried in nested menus.[4]

Step 2. Use the search bar inside Setup to quickly locate a specific setting by name. Search results now appear directly in the left-side panel (sidebar), immediately below the search input — no need to scroll through the full menu tree.[4]

Step 3. Check the "Frequently Used Settings" section on the Setup Home page. This dedicated section surfaces the top five settings you access most often, making it easy to jump back to your most-used customisations without hunting through categories.[4] Note: if your account was recently created, this section may not populate immediately because sufficient usage data hasn't been collected yet.[4]

Step 4. Take advantage of expand/collapse state retention in the Setup menu. Zoho CRM now remembers which sections you had expanded or collapsed the last time you visited Setup — sections you left open stay open, and sections you closed stay closed — so you don't have to re-navigate on every visit.[4]

Step 5. For the mobile app (Android), navigate to your user-specific home page. Any widgets you previously configured on the CRM web platform are accessible on Android provided the widget was built with mobile compatibility enabled. Confirm the Mobile compatibility toggle is switched ON inside the widget's setup screen on the web platform; once enabled, the widget will appear on your Android home page.[5]

Step 6. If a recent iOS app update has reset your home or module settings to default (a known behaviour reported by users), you will need to manually re-apply preferences such as week-start day, Caller ID, and any module-specific options after each update.[3] There is currently no automatic backup-and-restore mechanism for these mobile-side personal settings, so keeping a note of your preferred configuration is advisable.

Step 7. For home page widgets on the web, navigate to your CRM home page, select the option to customise or add widgets, and rebuild any that were lost. Widgets created for the user home page on the web platform will sync to the Android app once mobile compatibility is confirmed.[5]

Common pitfalls

  • iOS update resets: Every time the Zoho CRM iOS app updates, settings including week-start day, Caller ID, and module-specific preferences may revert to factory defaults.[3] This is a reported limitation — re-configure manually after each update.
  • "Frequently Used Settings" not appearing: Newly registered accounts won't see this section right away because the system needs enough interaction history to determine your top five settings.[4] Give it some time and regular use.
  • Widget not showing on Android: If a widget you created on the web isn't appearing on your Android home page, the most common cause is that the Mobile compatibility option was not toggled on during widget creation.[5] Edit the widget on the web and enable that toggle.
  • Canvas layout not mirrored on mobile: The Canvas layout you've customised on the CRM desktop does not automatically carry over to the mobile app — mobile view customisation is a separate, currently limited capability.[6]

What to check

  • Confirm that the Mobile compatibility toggle is enabled for each home page widget you want visible on Android.[5]
  • After any iOS app update, review your personal settings (week-start, Caller ID, module preferences) and re-apply them, since updates are known to reset these to default.[3]
  • On the desktop Setup screen, verify that the "Frequently Used Settings" section reflects your actual top settings — if it looks wrong, continue using Setup normally and the list will self-correct as your usage data accumulates.[4]
